International Essay Competition
Theme: Making Technology and Humanity in Harmony for Better Education
A. Scope of Competition Works
- The International Essay Competition is part of AILEC, which aims to hone university students’ creativity in writing essays in English at the international level.
- The essays in the competition are opinion essays aimed at university students in Indonesia and abroad.
- The entire competition is held online from the preliminary Round to the final Round according to the implementation rules that have been determined.
B. General Participant Requirements
- Participants are active students registered at universities and registered on the PD-DIKTI page https://pddikti.kemdikbud.go.id/ for Indonesian students at the time of registration of the participating teams until the final Round. A student identity card from the relevant university must be included for students from abroad.
- Contestants are individuals.
- According to the Competition Guidelines, participants must follow the entire schedule and rules.
- Participants must fill out the registration form on the link https://ailecfkip.com/regist/.
- Participants are required to pay the registration fee to the specified account.
- Entries are not permitted to contain elements of tribe – religion – race – between groups, religious blasphemy, gender harassment, radicalism, and plagiarism, and have never been included in other competitions.
C. Preliminary Round Rules
- Students compose opinion essays according to the theme.
- The work created is the student’s work, not the result of duplicating or plagiarizing other people’s work. The work has never been entered into or has never won a similar competition at the
national or international level. - The work does not contain pornographic elements and does not conflict with aspects of ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group.
- The essay is based on current issues or phenomena occurring in the national and international realms.
- The essay follows a 5-paragraph essay format, which can be accessed through https://ailecfkip.com/unduh/
- The committee will select the six best works as assessed by the juries and have the right to enter the final Round.
D. Assessment Criteria for Preliminary Round
The assessment criteria for the International Essay Competition Preliminary Round are as follows:

E. Final Round Rules
- The final Round of the International Essay Competition was held face-to-face and online in the form of a presentation.
- The finalist teams registered their attendance online.
- Juries held the final Round of the International Essay Competition in the online meeting room provided by the committee.
- Each finalist is allocated a maximum of 20 minutes (10 minutes presentation, 10 minutes question and answer with the juries).
- The order of presentations is determined by drawing lots during the online technical meeting.
- Each finalist is ready in the waiting room of the online meeting room no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled presentation.
F. Final Round Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria for the final Round of the International Essay Competition are as follows:
